Iowa’s men’s basketball team won’t be doing a lot of traveling in the nonconference schedule.
Eleven of the Hawkeyes’ 12 nonconference games will be played within the state — eight at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and three on neutral courts.
The lone game out of state will be on November 20 at Xavier, the return trip after last season’s game in Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes open the season on November 3 at home against Lipscomb, then play host to Eastern Illinois on November 6.
The next two games are on neutral courts — a November 10 game against Virginia Tech at Sioux City and a November 15 game against Creighton at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines.
After the trip to Xavier, the Hawkeyes have two home games over Thanksgiving week — November 24 against UMBC and November 28 against Prairie View A&M.
The Hawkeyes play host in their annual rivalry against Iowa State on December 10, then play at home against Western Illinois on December 13.
Iowa plays at home against Bethune-Cookman on December 17, followed by a December 21 game against Alabama in Des Moines. The nonconference schedule concludes with a December 29 game against South Dakota.
Game times and television assignments, as well as the Big Ten schedule, is expected in September.
