Iowa Women Will Face UConn In Home-And-Home Series

By JOHN BOHNENKAMP

Iowa’s women’s basketball team will play a home-and-home series with Connecticut in the next two seasons, the university announced on Tuesday.

The Hawkeyes will play at UConn this season at a date to be determined. The Huskies will then come to Carver-Hawkeye Arena in the 2027-28 season.

This season’s game could be a matchup of top-10 nationally-ranked teams. UConn was ranked No. 2 and Iowa was at No. 6 in ESPN’s “way-too-early” top 25 rankings released last month.

UConn has a 7-4 lead in the all-time series, but the two teams have split their last two matchups. Iowa defeated the Huskies, 71-69, in the 2024 national semifinals in the NCAA Tournament, then UConn beat the Hawkeyes 90-64 last season in the Women’s Champions Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y.
