Iowa women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder will be around for a little while longer.

Bluder, entering her 24th season as the Hawkeyes’ coach, had her contract extended through 2029, the university announced on Friday.

Bluder, who helped guide the Hawkeyes to the national championship game last season, was under contract through 2026.

Bluder is the program’s all-time leader in wins — going 494-249 in games with the Hawkeyes and posting a 850-391 overall record. She has led Iowa to 17 NCAA tournament and four WNIT appearances in her career, including NCAA tournament berths 13 of the last 15 seasons.

The Hawkeyes are coming off a season in which they went 31-7 overall, 15-3 in the Big Ten. They won the Big Ten Tournament, then rolled through the NCAA tournament, defeating top-ranked and undefeated South Carolina in a national semifinal before losing to LSU in the championship game.

Bluder has produced two consensus National Player of the Year award winners in Caitlin Clark (2023) and Megan Gustafson (2019) in the last five seasons. Four Hawkeyes have won consensus All-America status six times over the last nine seasons (Samantha Logic, 2015; Gustafson, 2018 and 2019; Kathleen Doyle, 2020; Clark, 2022 and 2023).

Four of Bluder’s teams have won Big Ten Tournament titles — 2001, 2019, 2022 and 2023. She has two Big Ten regular-season titles — 2008 and 2022.

Bluder has 247 Big Ten wins, the all-time leader in the conference, and is one of 14 Division I coaches to win 850 games or more.
