Trenton Massner and Luka Barisic were offseason additions at Western Illinois, and both played big roles in the Leathernecks’ first winning season since 2013.

The two players were honored on the Summit League’s postseason awards list, released Thursday.

Massner was a second-team all-conference pick and was named to the conference’s all-defensive and all-newcomer team. Barisic was an honorable-mention all-conference pick and was named to the all-newcomer team.

Massner, a native of Wapello, transferred to Western Illinois from Northwestern State. He was third in the Summit League in scoring at 16.4 points per game, led the conference in steals with 55, was second in assists at four per game, and was seventh in rebounding at 6.4 per game.

Barisic, who transferred from Texas-San Antonio, averaged 14.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He was also one of the conference’s best 3-point shooters, making 56 threes this season.

South Dakota State’s Baylor Scheierman was the conference’s player of the year. South Dakota State’s Eric Henderson was coach of the year.
