Stuelke Named To Big Ten Preseason Teams

Iowa’s Hannah Stuelke was a preseason All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and the media on Thursday.

Stuelke, a senior forward, returns as Iowa’s top scorer and rebounder after averaging 12.7 points and 7.7 rebounds last season. Stuelke was a second-team all-conference selection for the second consecutive season.

UCLA’s Lauren Betts, who was selected the preseason player of the year by the coaches and the media, was a unanimous pick along with teammate Kiki Rice on the coaches’ team. The rest of the team was Stuelke, Maryland’s Yarden Garzon and Kaylene Smikle, Michigan’s Olivia Olson and Syla Swords, Michigan State’s Grace VanSlooten, Ohio State’s Jaloni Cambridge and Washington’s Sayvia Sellers.

Nine of those players were on the media team, with Washington’s Elle Ladine replacing Sellers on the team. Betts was the lone unanimous selection.

UCLA was selected the preseason favorite by the coaches and the media. The coaches’ preseason top five was UCLA, Maryland, Michigan, USC and Ohio State. The media top five was UCLA, Maryland, USC, Michigan and Ohio State.
