Jan Jensen has been pursuing guards in the NCAA transfer portal since the end of the season.
The Iowa women’s basketball coach found one in a player nicknamed “Chit-Chat.”
Chazadi Wright, who played one season at Georgia Tech, signed with the Hawkeyes on Thursday, a day after she committed to the program.
Wright will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Wright, an Atlanta, Georgia, native, played in all 33 games with 12 starts as a freshman, averaging 7.2 points and 2.2 rebounds. She scored in double figures 10 times, including a season-high 16 points against Pitt. She had a season-high seven assists against Rice.
Wright, who played under new Iowa assistant LaSondra Barrett with the Yellow Jackets, was a four-star recruit according to ESPN HoopGurlz and was a two-time all-state selection by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“We are thrilled with the addition of Chit-Chat to our team,” said Jensen in a statement. “She is a skilled and explosive guard that is relentless on both ends of the floor. She is a great fit in every way, and I can’t wait for our fans to watch her play.”
