Iowa’s Hannah Stuelke and Lucy Olsen were named to the Big Ten’s women’s basketball preseason all-conference team by the coaches and the media on Thursday.

Stuelke, a junior, was a second-team All-Big Ten pick by the coaches and media last season after averaging 14 points per game while shooting better than 62-percent from the field. She was the conference’s Sixth Player of the Year as a freshman.

Olsen, a senior, is playing her first season with the Hawkeyes after transferring from Villanova. She ranked third in the nation in scoring last season, averaging 23.3 points. She was an honorable-mention All-American by the Associated Press and was a first-team All-Big East selection.

Stuelke and Olsen were joined on the team by USC’s JuJu Watkins, a unanimous selection for the media’s team, along with USC’s Kiki Iriafen, Maryland’s Shyanne Sellers, Nebraska’s Alexis Markowski, Ohio State’s Cotie McMahon, UCLA’s Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice and Wisconsin’s Serah Williams. Those 10, along with Illinois’ Makira Cook, were named to the coaches’ team, with Watkins and Betts unanimous choices.

Watkins was voted the preseason player of the year by the media and the coaches.

USC and UCLA, in their first season in the Big Ten, were ranked 1-2 in the coaches and media polls. Ohio State was picked third, with Maryland and Indiana completing the top five.
