Iowa Women’s Notebook: Clark Adds Another Weekly Award

By JOHN BOHNENKAMP

Iowa guard Caitlin Clark picked up her 20th career Big Ten women’s basketball player of the week honor on Monday.

Clark, a senior, averaged 27.3 points and 6.7 assists last week, leading Iowa to three wins and the Gulf Coast Showcase tournament title.

Clark ranks third all-time on the Big Ten’s list of player-of-the-week awards. It is the second time this season she won the award.

Clark was named the Gulf Coast Showcase’s most outstanding player after leading Iowa in victories over Purdue-Fort Wayne, Florida Gulf Coast and Kansas State.

HAWKEYES MOVE TO NO. 4: Iowa were ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press poll, released Monday.

The Hawkeyes (7-1) moved up one spot with the three wins last week. Among those wins was the victory over Kansas State, which avenged Iowa’s only loss of the season. The Wildcats, ranked 15th last week, moved up a spot in this week’s poll.

South Carolina remained No. 1 in the rankings, receiving all 36 first-place votes. UCLA is second, and Stanford is third.

Ohio State (16th) and Indiana (17th) are the other Big Ten teams in the rankings.
