Clark Leads AP Preseason All-American List

Iowa guard Caitlin Clark was named to the Associated Press preseason All-American team on Tuesday, becoming the first player in program history to receive this honor in three consecutive seasons.

Clark, who was the only unanimous selection among the 36 voters in the poll, was the AP’s national player of the year last season after leading the Hawkeyes to the NCAA national championship game.

Clark was named the Big Ten’s preseason player of the year and was a unanimous selection to the preseason all-conference team.

Clark was joined on the first team by LSU’s Angel Reese, Elizabeth Kitley of Virginia Tech, Cameron Brink of Stanford, Paige Bueckers of UConn and Mackenzie Holmes of Indiana. Holmes and Kiltey tied for the fifth spot on the team.

Clark averaged 27.8 points, 8.6 assists and 7.1 rebounds last season. Clark, a senior who has one more season left of eligibility after this season if she wants it, is 810 points behind Kelsey Plum’s NCAA record of 3,527 points.
